It has been a very busy place here at Clearfield Designs! I had a total of 19 projects on HSN! Hobby Lobby is releasing their quarterly magazine this month and I have projects in there as well. I have been also been working on Halloween projects and even Christmas projects for upcoming ads and releases! It’s crazy to be thinking about Christmas in May!!!
Today, I want to share something that is starting to grow at Clearfield Designs. My husband and I have been playing around with glass etching. I design the image out of vinyl, and he sand blasts them. We are very proud to announce that The Spiders Web, here in Idaho Falls, will be selling customized shot glasses made by us! I also made each of their artist a beer/root beer mug as well. I love how they have turned out.
Etching glass is easy if you have the right equipment. All you have to do is cut vinyl with your favorite cutting machine and apply it to glass. You can either use etching cream or sand blast the glass. I’ve tried both. For small projects, the etching cream works good. But if you want to do a large surface area or have multiple items to etch, sand blasting is much faster and easier in the long run.
I love the fact that I can put almost any image onto almost any type of glass object as long as I can cut it out of vinyl. As a family, we have root beer float mugs. I will post photos of those soon. This has definitely become a hobby for my husband. I will also be taking orders for customized items as well.
I’m off to go and pick up kids from school, then to baseball practice tonight. Here’s hoping we don’t get blown away!!! Let me know what you think of our latest projects!
